Tower Project at Dubai International Airport

Following the success of the ground movement radar project at Dubai International Airport, AlanDick was approached by a multi-national radar system supplier to design and install a new Primary and Secondary radar tower for the airport.

The tower design had to accommodate the heavy loading applied by the rotating action of the antennae, as well as a large shelter mounted beneath the top platform, which housed the radar motor and tower electrics.

AlanDick provided expert engineering and management techniques in assisting the client to progress the project designs, drawings and materials through notoriously stringent approval processes implemented by the consultants for the Dubai International Airport expansion project.

As the project evolved, AlanDick also provided solutions for cable management, plant and equipment as well as specialist riggers.

In order to comply with a fast track project delivery programme, the site was made operational 24 hours a day for three weeks, with 3 teams rotating the preparation and installation works.
