Tower Erection and Rigging for Network Rail

AlanDick has developed specialist expertise in the use of Derrick erection methods, which allow erection of masts along side operational rail and road routes without closing the route to traffic. This expertise was used to erect a tower and rig antennas at the GSM-R the GSM-R Didcot Control Centre for Network Rail.

The scope of the project gave AlanDick the following responsibilities:

  • Site survey to determine exact requirements for each site
  • Agreement with Network Rail on approved Method Statement
  • Supply of all rigging cables, connectors and accessories
  • Tower erection using Derrick-build method
  • Rigging of Antennas and associated cables
  • Test of installed system before team leaves site

All of the work undertaken was in accordance with AlanDick’s Contractor Assurance Case, using our own specialist site protection resource.

The project was delivered - on time and to the required quality and safety standards – in an operational rail environment.

This project illustrates AlanDick’s ability to transfer the skills developed in the commercial broadcasting and telecoms business, to the more specialised rail environment.
