Star performer – AlanDick plays leading role in Britain’s digital broadcast
   success story

The United Kingdom is rightly proud of its reputation as a world leader in digital video (DVB) and audio (DAB) broadcasting as well as being the first country to provide digital services via satellite, cable and terrestrial broadcasting. A major achievement has been the introduction of the world’s first multi-broadcaster, multiplexed DVB-based digital terrestrial broadcasting service, with the prospect of more advanced interactive and video-on-demand offerings to come. A total of 85% of homes in the UK now have digital television (about 21.4 million homes).

At the same time a substantial and growing number of radio listeners now enjoy more than 300 programme services from two national multiplexes of eight channels each together with 44 local digital radio multiplexes covering the main conurbations of the UK. An increasing number of stylish and cost-effective DAB digital radios are offering in-car, home and portable reception, many available for under £100.
