NATO - TSGT Project, Iraq

When NATO decided to deploy a Transportable Satellite Ground Terminal (TSGT) for its military forces in Iraq, it issued an international competitive tender for a turnkey solution.

The key elements of the tender were as follows:

  1. A suitably designed radome
  2. Full site electrical power systems
  3. Equipment shelters
  4. Air conditioning systems
  5. Full civil works package for equipment bases
  6. Site earthing and lightning protections
  7. In-country installation and commissioning of all of the above.

Because of its wealth of knowledge and expertise, AlanDick was able to appoint a team -  with skills such as specialist design and project management as well as logistical expertise - to provide the most competitive and fully compliant tender.

Over the next six months the team overcame a number of technical challenges, including the design of a special radome - able to meet exacting and tight electromagnetic requirements.  As well as power and air conditioning systems - which had to cover a temperature variation of  between -0°C and +60°C. The general civil works were also completed during this time.

Once the client was ready, the team was deployed to Iraq to carry out activities on site - which were completed in extremely harsh and unpleasant conditions - over a two month period.

AlanDick was the only supplier who was able to offer a truly turnkey supply and installation service on this project.  Its  solution provides the facility for NATO to operate essential communications equipment in a hostile environment.
